GAIA MUSEUM
V. NOVA de GAIA/ PORTO, PORTUGAL 2020- (with PLCO arquitecto and Site Specific arquitectura)/ VASSCO consórcio de arquitectura
The Gaia Museu-Ambiente assumes itself as the construction of a landscape that, similar to the terraces and balconies, has domesticated the banks of the Douro. The conversion of a factory's ruins into a topography of irregular platforms guarantees the installation of an immense public space. A landscape that welcomes the infrastructure of natural and cultural processes, based on the programmatic condition of the museum, complements and interconnects in the expository narratives and in their enjoyment as a public.
Two platforms or the dec and a configuration along opening ramps and a closed walkway of bravery between contemplation, which refer to the contemplation side of the areas (west of Cordoaria) and the closed walkway of Branvante the contemplation of areas ( west of Cordoaria) and the Belvedere, where geometric paths met the different levels that linked the hippodrome of the Apostolic Palace to the northern top of the Vatican hill.
While the naturalistic force of nature's proposal depends on the intentional regenerative force of human presence, the nature of the museum considers a process of determining nature, based on an intentional anthropic gesture. historical dialogue and dialogue between the city where the industry of Gaia is installed, emerging as a mediator of the past, the future, culture and nature.
