The landscape to the north of Santarém is marked by a series of valleys and ridges that define a very fertile hydrographic system, with small water lines that end in the Tagus river. In one of these valleys, we were asked to reorganize the landscape of a 1.5 hectare farm, which is developed around the water line, whose flow is reinforced by the controlled discharge of a reservoir to the north.
The program called for the creation of conditions to allow the installation of 8 to 10 tents, defining a small eco-camping related to nature, the operation being mainly characterized by the modeling of some areas of the land (to create a flat area for the installation of tents and the creation of a small pond) and the introduction of infrastructures for the supply of electricity and water, as well as drainage of some sanitary facilities to be created.
The only building to be introduced concerns to a small pavilion next to the new pond, while the remaining buildings are just supporting walls, two circular patios (one of them a kind of outdoor dining room with a fireplace) and a new car entrance at the northern boundary (with the creation of a new parking area within the property boundaries). The support wall that forms the platform of the tents also incorporates an area of storage and several sanitary facilities hidden under the ground, as well as two stairs for connection between the different levels of the terrain.
The pavilion is a simple roof, supported by 6 pillars and constructed entirely of concrete and wood. The land resulting from the excavation is restored on the roof of the building, in order to create a sense of continuity with the surrounding landscape. The curved front wall allows the lake water to extend down from the large roof.
