MINDELO, CAPE VERDE 2015
The project attempts to create continuity with the urban and natural landscape surrounding, consisting of buildings of very different heights, often deployed on platforms and soffits seeking stabilize focused declivosa topography of the bay of Mindelo. The volumetric organization based on the creation of a foundation from which emerge separate volumes, allowing the increase of sea views from the rooms on the opposite side of the street.
The bodies of greater height seek to align with the arch centerings of some buildings of 3 or 4 floors in the adjacent streets. Moreover, the basement has a height identical to that of other lower constructions on the same block. The architectural design pursues a harmonious composition of simple volumes but ruled and proportions, with square openings or small glasses lurking views, roof terraces and other spaces that articulate the inside of the house with its private outdoor. Seeks, in this sense, translating simultaneously an architectural reading of the place and the traditional building mode.
